GRAY’S GALLERY

This is Solomon being inquisitive of the new decking levels which have been put up in the yard area at SFHFC. I love his posture in this picture as well as the look on his face and I just had to include it in Gray’s Gallery which is a selection of my personal favourites. This really makes me smile, and makes all the hard work feel very worthwhile 😃😸👍.

Urgent help needed

I have had an urgent appeal tonight from another small Cat rescue (a cat charity based in Nottingham) regarding a young FIV+ cat that urgently needs a home - either temporary or preferably permanent.

I have very little details at the moment - all I have is that the cat is a young male approx 4-5 years old, he has been living as an outside cat and has recently been involved in a cat fight. Following vet care and neutering the vets have now tested him and found that he is FIV+. The cat is currently at the vets for the next few days, but sadly the person currently caring for the cat has other non FIV cats so is unable to have him back.

The cat is currently in Derbyshire in the UK. If anyone is able to help out could you please contact Sheila direct on 0115 9382246.

I am pleased to say that after a weekend of maintenance work the outside yard area is now open again for our residents. For saying that Winston is an old boy he really showed how agile he is by climbing up the wire mesh fence to have a nose round up at the top.

A big big thanks goes to our handyman Chris who has worked extremely hard over the weekend. Looking at this, our residents are already enjoying having a bit more of a view.

It’s been a hard day today at St Francis……..well for some of the volunteers at least, although you wouldn’t think it looking at Ace relaxing in his comfy cat bed. Some maintenance work is being undertaken in part of our outdoor area which should be finished tomorrow. Our residents have been unfazed by the disruption and have just gone about their daily business as usual.

Here is a photo I took a while ago of Ace and Winston in part of the outdoor area at St Francis. Our residents love to get outside when the weather is nice. We have a busy weekend ahead of us as we have some maintenance work to do on another part of the outside area. I will be meeting a couple of our volunteers at the hospice in the morning so keep those paws crossed for some dry weather as I don’t fancy getting soaked over the weekend.

Tonight Rocky (one of our fostered cats) has been to the vets for a check up.

Rocky suffers with sore gums which can be a side effect of being FIV+. He has had two injections tonight to help with this. Other than his gums Rocky is doing well. His weight is staying constant and skin and fur are looking good. We are so pleased with the love and care which Rocky is now getting from his new mum Kaz. It is lovely to know that Rocky is happy and contented and getting all of the one on one love and attention which he deserves 🐱💛.

Today Shai has been back to the vets. It is a month now since he had a dental where he had a couple of teeth removed which had been bothering him. Over the past day or two we were a bit concerned with how he was eating and he had lost some weight over the past few weeks. I am pleased to say though that there doesn’t seem to be any underlying problem, he has had an antibiotic injection which will last for a couple of weeks and our cat carers and volunteers will be monitoring him closely.

When I took him back to the hospice he enjoyed some fuss with me and I am pleased to say that he happily tucked into some food which was a good sign.
